Mass Flow Measurement – PicoFlow
The PicoFlow from Envea (formerly SWR) is a mass flow meter designed for measuring flow in transport pipes with very low material concentration. The sensor is well-suited for pneumatic applications but can also be used in situations where the material is falling at a speed of at least 2 meters per second.
Sensor features
- Measurement range: 100 grams per hour to 100 kilograms per hour
- Process temperature: Standard 150°C (optional up to 500°C)
- Pressure: Maximum 2 bar (optional up to 25 bar)
- Ambient temperature: -20°C to 60°C
- IP66; ATEX: Cat. 1/2 GD
- Output: 4-20 mA
Installation
The PicoFlow can be installed in metal pipes and ducts. The sensor should be placed as far as possible from bends and other fittings, such as valves and slides. The distance between the sensor and the fittings should be at least three times the diameter of the pipe or duct, in both directions, as shown in the adjacent illustration.
For non-metal transport pipes, the section must be encased in a metal sleeve or grid. Once the installation location is determined, a hole should be drilled in the pipe so the welding profile can be welded to the pipe at a right angle. The sensor rod can then be screwed into the holder via the threaded connection.
