In-line moisture measurement for solids – M-Sens 2

The M-Sens 2 from Envea (formerly SWR) is a moisture meter designed for in-line moisture measurements on solid materials. The moisture meter is used in conveyor belts, screws, mixers, or drying systems, and measures both surface and capillary moisture.

The M-Sens 2 sensor operates using high-frequency measurement, providing high resolution. The moisture meter sends microwaves into the material, allowing it to measure not only on the surface (like infrared) but also deeper into the medium. The M-Sens then registers the change in capacitance within the material, which determines the moisture content.

By accurately monitoring the moisture content of dry bulk goods, the quality and stability of the end product and production process can be maintained. Additionally, issues like material sticking due to high moisture can be prevented, and drying systems are only activated when necessary, resulting in a short return on investment for the M-Sens.

For applications involving very high moisture content (>60%), the M-Sens WR model is available:

  • Suitable for up to 80% moisture content
  • Accuracy: 0.5%

Applicability
