Flow / No Flow detection – FlowJam
The FlowJam from Envea is a non-contact microwave sensor for detecting flow or no flow. The system detects various types of flow and distinguishes between flow and blockages or standstill.
The FlowJam operates based on microwaves. These waves are reflected by the material to be detected and registered by the sensor. Using the Doppler effect, it determines whether there is movement, enabling the differentiation between flow and, for example, blockages. Since microwaves have a penetrating effect, the system is not disturbed by any buildup. This allows the FlowJam to be installed on the outside of (non-conductive) pipes. With a process adapter, the FlowJam can also be used in high-pressure or high-temperature environments, and solutions are available for ATEX zones or food environments. Differences compared to other FlowJam models:
- FlowJam
This is the basic version of the FlowJam and is not ATEX proof. This sensor detects flow/no flow. - FlowJam S
Unlike the basic FlowJam, this model is ATEX proof (zones 21 and 22) because its electronics are housed separately. As a result, the FlowJam S has a smaller sensor housing. This sensor detects flow/no flow and is also available with a 4-20mA output signal for trend purposes. - FlowJam Plus
The successor to the basic FlowJam is the FlowJam Plus. In addition to detecting flow/no flow, this sensor provides an extra output signal when there is no flow, indicating whether the pipe is full or empty. With optional adapters, the Plus version can also be used in extreme conditions such as high temperatures, high pressure, and in ATEX zones. - FlowJam T
This model is specifically designed for flow measurements of solid materials in hose lines with external diameters between 4 and 25 mm.
