Dust detection – Dusty (C)
The Dusty from Envea (formerly SWR) is a dust sensor specifically developed for detecting dust, monitoring dust filters, and measuring (detecting) dust emissions. The system can be used in all metal ducts where dust particles need to be detected. The Dusty operates from 0.1 mg/m³ and can be used as an alternative or supplement to a ‘police filter’ or differential pressure measurements to timely detect dust filter wear or breakthrough. The instrument is also available in an ATEX version (zone 22).
Also, check out Envea’s ProSens for more extensive dust measurements.
The dust measurement is based on the tribo-electric principle. When dust particles move past or against the sensor, a charge change occurs, generating a measurement signal. These signals are compared to preset standard values. If any of these values are exceeded, an LED indicator lights up. Optionally, a converter is available to provide a 4-20 mA output signal.

Advantages and features
- Monitor dust filters and prevent filter breakthrough
- Detection of dust and dust emissions
- Suitable for almost all types of dust
- Electronic alarm signal
- Usable in clean gas and dust ducts
- Simple and quick installation (plug & play)
- Immediate detection of dust filter damage
- Excellent price/performance ratio
- Easily expandable with a 4-20 mA output
- Available in ATEX version
Applicability
The Dusty is suitable for use in almost all metal ducts, both in clean gas and dust applications, for detecting dust. It is particularly suitable for filter monitoring, as the system can detect filter damage very quickly and accurately. This helps prevent complete filter failure in many situations. For more extensive dust measurements, Envea’s ProSens is available.
