During the Safety Instrumented System training in Noordwijk, provided by TVC Functional Safety Services under the auspices of TÜV Reinland, a consultant from Istec achieved the Functional Safety Engineer certificate. The acquisition of this certificate confirms and formalizes the existing knowledge of functional safety within Istec.
Functional Safety focuses on active systems for reliability and safety of the process and is based on the functional safety standards IEC 61508 and IEC 61511. Functional safety plays an important role especially in vibration and overspeed monitoring systems. Achieving and maintaining the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) for a system and advising and guiding in this area is specialist work, where experience and knowledge play a crucial role. The specialists at Istec have extensive knowledge of these systems and can assist in designing systems, defining test procedures, and performing maintenance and proof tests during turnarounds.
