A company processes raw materials into fertilizers. During production, an additional component is added to the product. Due to high maintenance requirements and insufficient accuracy, the customer sought an alternative to the impact plate weighing system.
Application
To ensure consistent quality, a rotary valve doses the additional component into the main flow, which is fed from a silo. In the past, an impact flow meter, also known as an impact plate scale, was used for continuous mass flow measurement. The primary reasons for seeking an alternative were high maintenance needs and insufficient accuracy. An additional challenge in this application was the vibrations caused by the construction of this part of the plant, which directly affected the measurements from the impact flow meter. The customer wanted to eliminate this issue and decided, together with Envea, to install the MaxxFlow. During a test setup, both measurement systems were installed to operate in parallel. The results showed that the MaxxFlow was suitable for this application, and the impact flow meter was subsequently removed.
About the MaxxFlow
The MaxxFlow is an inline mass flow meter specially designed for measuringlarge flows of dry bulk materials during free-fall transport (flows of 20 tons per hour and above). Its open construction, compact form, and high throughput capacity make the MaxxFlow suitable in situations previously limited to complex mechanical systems like weigh hoppers or impact plates. Advantages compared to impact plate weighing systems
- Contactless flow measurement of large volumes of material
- Prevents contamination of flow due to closed construction
- Requires less height for installation compared to impact flow meters
- Virtually maintenance-free
